On the evening of Monday 17th November The Sheringham Lodge No 6621 was brought to life by the Initiation of Mr Ian Cutts.

The centre was already buzzing on arrival, with a busy bar, and plenty of both new and familiar faces.

The brethren assembled in the Temple and the Worshipful Master and his officers entered. The lodge was opened and the visitors welcomed.

With the minutes read and approved by the Secretary, the ballot for Initiate, Mr Ian Cutts, and two joining members, Bro Ken Titchmarsh and WBro Michael Cook took place and was successfully completed.

The ceremony of initiation was excellent throughout. The Worshipful Master, WBro Eddie Williams, was calm and assured. SW WBro Keith Kilbourn and JW David McNaughter were outstanding, while SD WBro Stephen Barley and JD Bro John Lee delivered exceptional work, the JD guiding the candidate with confidence and clarity.

Bro Dent was precise as IG with W Bro Stephen Barley delivering an exceptional recitation of the working tools.

WBro Gareth Stone ably presented the Initiate’s Guide and an offer to Bro Ian Cutts to attend the Norfolk Blues, of which two were already in attendance.

Upon the candidate returning to the Lodge, the JD, Bro John Lee, delivered a truly faultless rendition of the 1st Degree charge.

W Bro Roy Williams completed the evening with his excellent musical support.

At the festive board, great food, great company and singing set the tone, with 10 visitors from 9 lodges. A strong visitors’ reply by WBro Steve Uttle was given on the superb ceremony and he commented that Bro Ian Cutts had become part of a supportive and thriving lodge with a bright Masonic future.

With a lively raffle and a well-received Initiates song, superbly sung by WBro David Pope, the evening finished in fine style.
