How many times a year do you meet?

We meet on the 3rd Monday of; October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May.

How much does it cost?

Our annual subscription is currently £120.00, our dining fee is £23.00 per meeting, Initiation fee is £76.80, and our joining fee is £32.00, we hold fundraising events throughout the year, and at most meetings we hold a raffle.

Are there any qualifications for membership?

You would normally be of at least 18 years old, male, and have a belief in a supreme being. There is no form of distinction or preference as to which religion you follow. You should not have a criminal record, or have any cases pending.

How much time does it take up?

Each monthly meeting starts at 6.00pm, and lasts around 2 hours, we then dine together afterwards, which lasts up to 3 hours.

What do you do at a meeting?

As with most other clubs or societies we have to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, look at the finances, and bring in new members, which involves three short ceremonies, which are usually spread over a few months.

How do I join?

You can approach any of the lodge members for more information, or contact us. You will normally be asked to attend an interview.

What profession do you have to be?

The membership of the Sheringham Lodge is made up of various Professions, we have no stipulation or restriction on members, as long as you can afford the annual subscriptions, and have the time to attend that’s all you need.

What will I get out of being a member?

People join for various reasons, some people think that they will gain an advantage from a colleague or fellow member regarding promotions or work contracts, this does not happen in Freemasonry any more than it would at any golf club, or group of friends socialising together. Others join to expand their social circle, or to spend an evening with like minded people, and escape from the stress and pressures of their working life.

Once a member you have the opportunity to visit some of the many lodges in The Province of Norfolk, or any of the Lodges affiliated to the United Grand Lodge of England.

Can I tell my family and friends of my membership?

Freemasonry should be looked upon as any other hobby, club or society, you must speak to your Wife or Partner about the financial and time implications, as for your friends, speak to them, you never know, they may wish to join as well.
